The Hike
Another day at the Tourne, and a very different one at that! It snowed about 4" overnight, and I was getting to the park around 3:00pm. The parking lot was busier than expected, but 95% of the cars were there for the sledding hill. I didn't want to carry my full pack, so I just carried spikes in my hands - wasn't sure if I'd need them, but better to carry them and not need them! I decided to take the loop counter-clockwise so I could go up the steeper part versus down, and I was off!
I immediately found myself wanting snowshoes, which were in Boston... oh well! Bareboots were good for the whole hike, but it was just slow-going. I passed a cross-country skier a couple of time, which was fun! I also made friends with an EXCELLENT pileated woodbecker on my final descent. Another nice afternoon in the Tourne!
